Peace manual-PHD Seminar Hello, We had a great time at the PHD Seminar in Nairobi. ISAR, the institute that deals with African realities ISAR was our host. http://www.africanrealitiesinstitute.com/about/purpose.html We were invited for this meeting to input into the writing of a book/manual to be used in peace building in Africa as the only available books are old time and cannot fit into the system as of now...as new challenges have come. So as African scholars it was great time to start a new book to face the realities here. We spent a week on this study. We are planning to go back to review the book before it is massed produced. World Vision/ngst.edu helped us to attend this meeting in providing food, but we had to provide transport to and from Nairobi which quite a challenge for us. But is a good sacrifice, as we feel we are part of what is going to happen here. i loved this train it looks long The book that is used now, it was written 4 years ago

School Opens for Another Year

I want to thank Joyful servant for the gift to these orphans. We pray that the Lord would continue to Bless you, as you serve Him even while you are seated there in Vancouver. we were able to supply about 15 orphans with all the needs for this coming school opening. (The pictures are not exhaustive).

Cancer Takes a Sister in the Lord - Elizabeth

Hi,

The death of Elizabeth, was so painful, but she fought hard to see that she could say her last words to her children, who are now orphaned.

She cried for her last daughter who is right now a teenager and asked everyone who could hear that she be taken care of. Please pray for her. Her name is Cherono.

Continue to pray for the family also. they are such a people who love God. Many people attended the funeral.

Accident Takes a Long Time Friend

Hello,

I am mourning with many others, the loss of my friend Paul arap Chepkwony who died in a grizzly road accident two days ago. He bled to death.

Please pray for his family. He was the head teacher of LELU High school in Kipkelion. I will miss him so much. He was a kind man and he loved young people so much. I worked closely with him in students affairs (going to schools, peer mediation etc) for over 8 years. Pray for his wife and kids. His last born is about 5 years old. The others are in university & almost graduating.

Something that kept running through my mind was him asking me last week for a good Bible and I had promised to give it to him this week when my friends head back home back to Trinidad (the mission group that visited Kenya).

Continue to pray for the family. They are such a great people & the children & his wife will miss him so much.

Conference on AIDS & Conflict Management

This week we had a great teaching from Waltreed (army program from USA based here) and ALARM on peer mediation and HIV and AIDS. It was so enriching for the head teachers, chaplains and counsellors that attended this meeting. We were encouraged to love the young ones more and to let them open up by being their friends.

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO TEAM - LAST UPDATE

Hello this is my last update about the Trinidadian & Tobago team visit to Kenya. It has been such a great honour to have this team come to visit us. I am planning on heading to Nairobi to say good-bye to them because it has been a great honor to have them here. Praise and honor be to God.

TRINIDAD/TOBAGO TEAM Visit Internally Displaced Peoples

Visiting the Internally Displaced Peoples (IDP) was a time of the most touching moments of our travels in Kenya with the team from Trinidad/Tobago. The scripture tells us we need to provide food for both the body and the soul and we did that.

We purchased food and presented to each tent. Other people from other tents came and asked to be considered too. We distributed clothes and shared the Gospel of forgiveness and love for one another.

The team has really been loving their stay in Kericho, Kenya and we had a chance to take them to a tea plantation. Wow! they marvelled at the beauty.

Trinidad/Tobago Team - Give the Gift of a Well

The prayer has been answered. There will be no more fights and fights from rival communities for water. After the inspection of the site of the well and prayer and walking a small distance, Debbie, the young gal from Trinidad said she will extend her hand in helping this tribe to get water. It was a moving time of prayer for us, and we all thanked God in different ways: crying, praising, jumping and dancing! As you can see, the Maasai down here and there are many more. We look forward to seeing clean children and irrigation of the farms.

I must confess that I have taken 'potential' people (funders) to visit this site. People who we thought will help. But I am glad the Lord has answered us. Not through writing proposals, etc. Rather, he just sent to us HIS daughter to help us.
Praise God with us.
