Elizabeth in Pain

She is sick, frail,her leg is not strong anymore, she is not eating enough, and she is in pain. These words describe Elizabeth, our mother who is just about 64 years old. Elizabeth has 9 kids to her name, 6 boys and 3 girls.

I felt so bad today, though I was supposed to encourage her, I was feeling low. Pray for me and her son, Thomas, who loves her so much. We try what we can to make her feel that life is worth living again.

Elizabeth has stage 3 cervical cancer and cancer management in Africa is still a new concept. We have been trying to read books to understand what cervical cancer is all about but it is hard.

We were moved from one hospital to a government one. I guess the nurses & doctors had pity on our meagre finances and Elizabeth has now been admitted in the ward. Pray for her.

Meeting Teri & Laurie from Utah

Hello,

This is just a small update to let you know that my church's friend Teri and Laurie, made it safely to Africa and they did a great ministry with Compassionate International.

I wish I could join them in their travels and safari here but I thank God for the short time we did have together. They have really enjoyed their time here and wish it was extended for a few more days.

Thank God for using them in a great way. Thanks also to the my church family for praying for these dear sisters and the entire team as they traveled to this part of the world to spread the good news.

Simon has finally graduated. It was a beautiful graduation and I really loved it. I wish you were all here. We were glad it rained at the last minute of the ceremony and we really appreciate that because rain means a blessing. We give praise to God.

Simon will be graduating soon. I mean tomorrow Kenya's time . He has been such a great friend of mind since we met over ten years ago. He is a great preacher and someone who loves sports and pastoral ministry.

I was fortunate to be invited to attend his dinner. I was so much excited to see him with his family getting so excited for what God has before him. I am happy that he is able to graduate as on Monday we had to help him clear part of the tuition so that he could sit for his final exams. He had actually missed one exam and he cried to God to help him. Last night it was great joy to see him graduate and a miracle!

Continue to pray for him as he plans to start his Masters degree in September 2009. Pray for finances too for his further studies here in Kenya.

A New Life in New Land

Hello friends,

Solomon in his writings said there is time for everything. A time to plant and time to reap. Today was such a day.

A friend is going to the State of Carolina to study; not only to study but to work as he and his family were given what they call 'green card'. I was privileged to accompany them and say 'goodbye' together.

As leaders here that much we could do was pray for him as he travels. We believe God will take care of him and take care of his young family too while there. Our prayer is that his wife will visit him soon after the man 'builds' a home in the 'new land'.

The old and the young accompanied him. Nairobi is a bit cold today and and we praise God for that.

Three Young Gals Lost a Mother

Three young souls lost a dear mother. It was so hard. She had cancer and died just a few days ago. This week I attended two funerals; one in my home and this one about 120 miles from home.

The family are dear friends to me for a long time. It was so disheartening for them to lose their mother. Sometimes if one has to choose who makes a home, we usually quickly say it is a mother.

Pray for Edit, Memo and Faith as they think through these hard times. Their father is willing to play the two roles of mother and father but you can imagine how enormous the challenge is. Anyone with advice for him? Please pray for Him to face the challenge of raising them as a single parent. It is indeed hard for him.

I was so touched with this today. Though as leaders we attend funerals, this one touched my heart.

The WONDERFUL MIRACLE of a School

This morning I was called by a friend that I used to worship with in the same church. I went to see him ready to meet and listen to him. What I heard touched my heart.

For a long time now I have been praying for a school that would be a rescue center for the street kids and orphans here in Kenya and this was the greatest offer I have ever heard. I have been praying to start a school for such children ever since I finished seminary and this is the closest I have come to seeing the prayer answered.

Please pray that I can be able to run this school some day. It is truly a prayer answered and am just waiting for HIS directions.

Funeral in My Village

Today i attended a funeral here in the village. Many people travelled from far and wide and we saw so many cars than we've seen before.

The deceased was a business man who started with a donkey and now he has big stores and lorries and is very rich man.

Pray for his family. His two wives died already but God has taken care of him. He had about 18 or so kids. pray for them.
