Christmas for the IDPs

Helllo,

I had a busy day going on a quick Christmas mission taking gifts to the IDP camp near where I live.  I managed to secure some volunteers to help me out.  I'm glad I could make it there before Christmas.

It is so sad to see the situation these people live it.  Indeed it is so heartbreaking.






I want to tell you of the love these guys have for you after you gave them these gifts. They are so grateful for the gifts, especially at this time of year.

I wanted to get this report up before Christmas passed and to upload a new slideshow set to music in my language, Kipsigis.

Basic Foodstuffs for Kenyans

At this time of year, more than any other time of year, it is difficult to go without basic food stuffs. Christmas here is a time for enjoying a proper meal with family members and if funds allow, buying a set of new clothes.

Due to the love of a patron we were able to buy some of what we need. This is truly a blessing.

Here is a pictorial of the basic food we need.

Flour for making chapati.

Oil for cooking the chapati.

Tea for breakfast and mid-evening beverage.

Sugar for our tea.Pineapples for dessert at special times like Christmas.

Most village farmers are subsistence farmers. This means they mostly grow corn for eating. If they have extra they can sell it to purchase a bit of oil, flour, tea and sugar. Having the extra corn for sale to buy food is always difficult as villagers have other basic needs they must meet: kerosene oil, school uniforms, tuition for older kids and supplies, clothing for the family, medical needs, seed and fertilizer for planting.

Please have a look at the side bar on the right and you will see a list of basic food needs and general pricing for these basic food stuffs. We ask you to pray for us so that the farmers can have funds to plant their crops and enough to meet their basic needs.

Christmas for Kericho's Kids

Hello,

We had a wonderful time of Christmas with all the kids here near Kericho, in the village. It was a great time of having lunch together and building relationships.

We are so grateful to the Lord for the provisions that we had for this Christmas. It was enough and we were all happy to eat together. We had chapati, rice, tea , meat and most of all the Word of God.

We want to take this time to thank God for the contribution for this Christmas. We do hope that the Lord will bless the sponsor tremendously.

Christmas Gifts in Kericho Town

Hello,

It is Christmas again and we praise God for his love for us, that we can see another Christmas.

As usual we visited those needy places in our town. We started at the rehabilitation school and ended at the hospital here in Kericho, Kenya.

We are glad we managed to visit these sites and we were so much welcomed by the people. We want to thank God for the new administrator at the rehabilitation school; Mrs Boit, who encouraged us to keep visiting the school.

The center of our attention at this school was the two twin gals who are at the institution. We were so much touched by their plight. Continue to pray for the two of them, Sharon and Pigoty. We do hope someone can adopt them. They are in the group picture we took.

Village Kids have Fun Time in 2008!

hello friends,

kids are always left out of the Christmas schedules here in Kenya, but this year we had great plans to see that the kids played and enjoyed themselves! for some of them it was their first time to play in the 'so called swimming pool.




i loved watching them! it was lots of fun and i also enjoyed seeing them dance and get to know new friends.



enjoy these pictures as they are a true picture of what many kids around the world do. we are grateful to one of the hotels in the city (where i live) which brought these items and charged a small fee for its use. we are also grateful to God for helping this to happen.

Prayer Request

Kids start back to school in January and will need funds for school fees as well as for school books at the higher grade levels. Check the link below for the school books needed by the secondary four class 4 and 5 and pray the needs can be met. To help you calculate the cost of items, one (1) Kenyan Shilling is roughly equal to 60 cents. The exchange rate has fluctuated wildly in the last year and so we expect this rate to fluctuate up and down a few cents over the foreseeable future.

Christmas in the Village 2008 - Kericho, Kenya, East Africa

i hope u had a wonderful Christmas. most people spent their Christmas with family; others in the church, still others visiting new places, etc.

here in Kenya, most people spent their time with family, and the next thing when you spend your time like that, what comes to mind often is the food that is most needed as families converge. it is always a challenge for village folks to afford this and we had to chip in and help a few families deal with this need.

we bought each family sugar, rice, wheat flour, oil , salt, etc. this was a complete Christmas party for a family of ten kids. i was so excited to see them happy and enjoying the fellowship and the food together. in most of these pictures in the slideshow, u will see the packaging [of the food] going on. we had to buy everything in bulk so that the prices could come down. we had a great Christmas and i look forward to 'jumping' into the next year on january 1st, 2009.



let's keep praying for ISRAEL to stop this war on terror. i just wish there was a way they get the hamas militants without injuring the kids and the innocent.

The Joy of Jikos

hello friends,

we are witnessing more jikos coming up.
what a great joy this is. many new people in the village want to own this precious thing after seeing others in the village and how it is helping them.

in my last update on jikos i wrote that we hope to have at least 10 jikos set up in village homes before Christmas. we still need 7 more to make it possible for us to make 10 before the start of this year's Christmas. this would help us to make a difference in a quarter of our households. [here are some photos of the 3rd hut to receive jiko in the village.]



pray that we can achieve this. we do hope to have great smiles from the families in our community for their blessings. and these smiles bring us great joy when we can give joy to them.

otherwise know we are really so excited that we and you...can make a difference in the lives of these dear ones. let's wait for more of these great smiles.
