The Kids of Kericho!

Dear friends, I want to share a wonderful poem written for the children I minister to in Kericho. This poem was written for the Missions of Hope, by my good friend Stuart, from England. He has such a heart for the children and we appreciate so much his prayers and the prayers of his lovely wife, Michelle.

THE KIDS OF KERICHO!

MANY HAVE NO PARENTS

THEY HAVE NO PLACE TO GO

STRUGGLING FOR SURVIVAL

THE KIDS OF KERICHO

MY HEART IS FULL TO BURSTING

I WANT THE WORLD TO KNOW

AND SAY A SIMPLE PRAYER OR TWO

FOR THE KIDS OF KERICHO

IF I WAS TO WIN THE LOTTERY

THATS IF I HAD A GO

I KNOW THERE'D BE A BIG FAT CHEQUE

FOR THE KIDS OF KERICHO

I PRAY FOR PASTOR JONAH

MY LOVE FOR HIM DOES GROW

I SEE HIS HAPPY SMILING FACE

I SIT HERE IN MY WHEELCHAIR

IN SURROUNDINGS THAT I KNOW

The Loss of a Bright Kalenjin Light

EMO society chairman, James Kiprop Bett died. See the news story here http://www.emosociety.org/

He died after his car hit buffalo's on the way to Nairobi. He was with his family and I know them personally.

A fundraiser was held this afternoon to cover medical and funeral expenses, and I attended, though we were disturbed a lot by the rain. The burial has been set for this Saturday.

James was born in 1966 and is one of the Kalenjin community's leaders. The Kalenjin is also my tribe and his life has really impacted me in a positive way.

I am thinking of attending his funeral in Eldoret on Saturday.

Please continue to pray for this family and the Kalenjin community as whole, as we come to terms with the loss of a young and great leader.

Lots of Rain!!

From Lots of Rain

Hello,

It is raining lots here! We are so excited as we know that the crops will grow and become strong in the coming months.

We are blessed with Rains - From Lots of Rain

Our worry though is that some farmers were not able to buy enough seeds and fertilizer for this season. Please pray that all will be well and done. I am praising God for what the Lord has blessed us with this week.

Reflection & Planning

This week has been quite busy for me and my colleagues. We were all able to attend a small bonding and goal oriented meeting. We were to sit together and evaluate what we did together in the past year and what we are to do in this year 2009.

Every year we re-evaluate and recheck our goals and programs to see that we can achieve them. Some of the goals that we had last year were not achieved mostly because the plans that we had were ran over by the (high) inflation rates that we had in my country.

One thing that I learned is that everyone is a leader in whatever point of life or place we are in. That is the greatest of lessons that I learned throughout this period.
We did also learn some fire drills and it was fun though a bit scary too.

But I guess this was helpful as we have experienced a lot of fire disasters lately.

It is my prayer that most of the goals that we have set for this year can be achieved with God's help. Please continue praying for us.
