Christmas Gifts in Kericho Town

Hello,

It is Christmas again and we praise God for his love for us, that we can see another Christmas.

As usual we visited those needy places in our town. We started at the rehabilitation school and ended at the hospital here in Kericho, Kenya.

We are glad we managed to visit these sites and we were so much welcomed by the people. We want to thank God for the new administrator at the rehabilitation school; Mrs Boit, who encouraged us to keep visiting the school.

The center of our attention at this school was the two twin gals who are at the institution. We were so much touched by their plight. Continue to pray for the two of them, Sharon and Pigoty. We do hope someone can adopt them. They are in the group picture we took.

A Visit to the Internally Displaced Peoples of Kenya

Hi

We are going to visit the internally displaced people this week. God willing, we are gathering food from the villages and towns to feed these people who are living in makeshift camps.

These folks are living in deplorable conditions and need our help. We do hope to distribute what we got, and hope the government will come and help them somehow.These are trying moments for our country, and we do hope to make some changes in their lives.

Please pray for these people. If you can give to help these people.

Three Weddings & A Funeral

This past Sartuday, has been a weekend of sorts. I had to go to three weddings. Yes indeed, three weddings. On top of that, I attended a funeral.

The weddings involved colleagues. One of them was for a professor in the college near where I work, and another was for a radio broadcaster.

I really enjoyed these weddings, and was really caught up in the beauty that has enveloped the church.

Since most of the professor's family members came from Mombasa, the coastal part of the country, I got to see for almost the first time, the writings drawn (henna painting) onto the body of the bride. It is very rare here in Kericho to see this Arabic influence but I guess was part of what went into the making of this successful wedding ceremony.

There were several other weddings in town too, but since I was hoping from one place to another, I got very few photo clips from them. This coming week, I will again be at a wedding. I am getting ready with good wedding gear, as I am an official (by virtue of sitting in one of the committees for 3 months), though I have to put in some money there) in one of them.

Peace Building Seminar with Student Leaders Concludes

Thank you for your prayers for the students leaders we hosted in Kericho, Kenya this past week. I enjoyed staying with them and chaperoning them, though I went to sleep late, most of the time at midnight since I had to make sure they were all asleep first.

I love young people. I enjoyed interacting with them, though i realize many young people see things as they are ...at that time......

Mostly this week, we had a good time learning lessons about conflict and it's resolutions.

At the end of the week, each one of us got a certificate. A certificate was also given to me for being a good coordinator and being able to look after the young one's well.

Building a Peaceful Future

Hi,

We continue to have a great time at the conference and are enjoying every bit of it! We have about 200 students gathered here from various schools and places. The students come from as far away as Sudan and we are enjoying the time together with them.

Yesterday was very touching as we had World Gospel Missions representative and spouse in Kenya with us in the evening. The students were challenged to wait on God in all that they do. This missionary couple, we call them Laboso and Chebaibai, have been married now for 33 years and are very excited to serve in Kenya.

Please continue to pray for us. Especially so that the lessons that the students learn will stick with them for a long, long time.

Peace Building

Hi,

There is a gathering of students here at the Bible College this week to learn about peace building,and HIV and AIDS.

Many of you will know that we had a lot violence last year in Kenya. We are hoping that the counselling and teaching we are doing will help to prevent a recurrence of violence in future. Our anti violence activities are focussed on the youth who are the main actors/perpetrators of violence.

We are working together with our partners ALARM alarm-inc.org, and Walter Reed http://www.usamrukenya.org/hiv.htm

We want to remain in God's presence and have our children and youth be in God's presence. That is where we are all strong and united in the bonds of peace and love.
