Missions of Hope, Goals for 2010

Hello friends,

The first quarter of the year has flown by and I wanted to share with you our goals for the Missions of Hope for the balance of 2010.

Our primary focus this year is to
Educate the Orphans in Kenya

Primary education in Kenya is free, but secondary education (the equivalent of high school in the U.S.) is not. Secondary school often becomes unaffordable for children whose parents are too sick to work or have died. There is a major shortage of working professionals in the medical field. Education is the answer to this shortage.

For $16 a month or $200 a year you can send a Kenyan child to secondary school. This includes books, school supplies, uniform and shoes.

Providing Clean Water

Can you imagine a life without clean water? Unfortunately, many of the people in Kenya do not know what it's like to have this valuable resource at their disposal. Nearly 10 million people in Kenya do not have access to clean drinking water.

Lack of safe drinking water is the second largest killer of children, and hinders education, health and economic development. Women and children have been known to walk as far as five miles to get water. Only a very small percentage of Kenyans have access to clean water.

During dry seasons rivers dry up, increasing the formidable burden of fetching water, which can consume four hours a day or more.

Poor sanitation increases the potential for deadly water-borne diseases. Missions of Hope has a goal of building 5 wells by the end of 2010.

Expanding
Help to Farmers

In the past we have helped farmers plant their crops. Read here and here. We would be excited to expand our help to farmers in this area of need. We want to encourage them to catch "fish", rather than simply give them "fish" to eat.

Thank you for your prayer support. If you are able to help us reach these goals in 2010, we thank you and give praise to God.

Thanks for supporting us.

God bless,

  2. It's a great idea to have goals so others can know where your priorities are to aid the villagers.

Since it is now planting season I pray you get some donors to help with giving some help to the farmers. I also pray for help for the children who need education and the villages that need water.

Oh God, hear my prayer for the people of the villages where the Missions of Hope is reaching out to touch others with your love and grace. Cause others to join in with this work which you have started. Lay a burden on your people to help their brothers and sisters in Kenya. I thank you Father for what you have done so far and how you have met needs and I thank you for the work you are yet to do for these dear ones. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.
